The holidays are quickly approaching, which means it’s time for fun and easy holiday crafts! Holiday crafts bring families together and provide hours of fun for kids ages five and up. These fun and easy holiday crafts can be made from items you have lying around the house.

Paper Party Plates Ornaments-

Make theses super cute ornaments with just a few simple items. For this holiday craft, you’ll need: 

  • red and green 9” party plates (10 count each)
  • red and green glitter
  • heavy-duty aluminum foil
  • craft glue
  • a star cookie cutter
  • red and green ribbon
  • newspaper

Steps:

  • Place newspaper onto work space
  • Cut red and green ribbon into 5-24” lengths each (for younger kids, use safety scissors)
  • Use star cookie cutter to trace pattern onto aluminum foil
  • Glue red ribbon to make a loop onto the top of the flat side of a green plate- repeat the process with green ribbon and red plates, until you have 5 colors of each
  • Glue two plates together, leaving the ribbon loops visible. Let dry about 5-10 minutes. You will have 5 red and 5 green “ornaments”
  • Let dry, decorate with glitter and foil stars. Make designs on plates with glue, add glitter, shake off excess glitter, let dry, and then add stars with a dab of glue. Let dry completely before hanging

Stick Santas

This simple craft requires only a few items with most found around the house. You’ll need:

  • popsicle sticks
  • cotton balls
  • craft glue
  • red and black Sharpies (or markers)
  • red glitter
  • newspaper

Steps:

  • Place newspaper onto work space 
  • Decorate top half of craft stick with black Sharpie for eyes and nose. Leave room at top for Santa’s hat
  • Color the rest of craft stick with red market to make Santa’s suit and black market for belt. Add a piece of foil for belt buckle with a dab of glue
  • Add cotton ball for Santa’s bread with a dab of glue
  • Cut foil into a small triangle for Santa’s hat, add a small amount of glue, sprinkle red glitter, shake off excess, glue hat to top of craft stick

Popcorn Snowmen-

Popcorn snowmen are so easy to make with everyday things you have around the house. For this cute holiday craft, you’ll need:

  • popcorn balls
  • craft glue
  • hairspray
  • pinecones
  • small twigs
  • black ribbon

Steps:

  • Assemble two popcorn balls together with craft glue to make the body of snowman
  • Break off pieces of pinecones for eyes, nose, and mouth (about 5 each) glue onto snowman head
  • For the hat, glue together a few twigs to make hat. Attach to the snowman’s head with a dab of craft glue
  • For the bottom part, add pinecone buttons and black ribbon around neck, tie into a scarf. For arms, use a small twig for each, stuck into the side of the popcorn
  • When completely dry, spray the finished craft with hairspray, let dry
